Concession Savings on Australia's Great Train Journeys
Great Southern Rail welcomes the Australian Government’s
recent announcement that concession fares have been extended for rail travel onboard The Ghan between Alice Springs and Darwin. This new arrangement means concession fare privileges are now available on all Great Southern Rail services - The Ghan, Indian Pacific and The Overland.
By combining these new Government concessions
with Great Southern Rail discounts, Australian pension and concession card holders can now save up to 55% off the standard adult fare in Red Service Daynighter Seats and up to 32% off the standard adult Gold Service Fare.
Concessions are valid for holders of Australian Pension Concession Cards (PCC) or Commonwealth Seniors Health Card (CSHC) issued by Centrelink or the Department of Veteran Affairs.
~Pensioner and Concession Entitlements
To receive Concession travel fares, Great Southern Rail is required to confirm your eligibility electronically with Centrelink. If you do not want this to happen you will need to contact Centrelink to obtain a Concession Letter as proof of your eligibility for concession and provide this directly to Great Southern Rail before the concession can be given.
